Freedom! The war cry of the ancient Highlanders rings as true today as it did then. But now it is enshrined in law that the vast wild, stretches of magnificient mountains, moors, lochs and seashores are here to be freely enjoyed by all. You can look at from the comfort of the hotel or your car or you can get right in there - and be out there doing something different everyday. The choice is yours!

With our enviable location on the shore of Little Loch Broom with the backdrop of the magnificent mountain range of An Teallach there are a wide variety of activities and sports which can be enjoyed in the local area, these include hill walking, rambling, bird watching, photography, cycling, whale watching, para gliding, fishing and of course star gazing due to the clear air. Easy walks along the shore of Little Loch Broom start from the hotel or if you are a little more adventurous then there is the steep climb up An Teallach or the other twenty one Munros in the vicinity. Another popular pastime is the Appelcross loop for driving enthusiast, which takes in some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery.
If you fancy going a little further afield then the traditional fishing village of Ullapool is only a thirty minute drive away where you can take a boat trip where you might be able to see seals, dolphins or if you're lucky a Minke whale or just spend time wandering around the many gift shops. A thirty minute drive in the other direction will take you to the famous Inverewe Gardens which have a host of sub-tropical plants and shrubs which thrive alongside palm trees and bamboos. The gardens are worth a visit at any time of the year.A short drive from Dundonnell is Gairloch where it is also possible to take a once in a lifetime whale watching trip. The hotel is also only one hour's drive from Loch Ness where you can do your own Nessie spotting by taking a cruise or a walk around this magnificent loch.
In this area of Wester Ross you are never too far from spectacular mountains, rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, fishing villages or deep forests with an abundance of plant and wildlife. There really is so much to see which is why we have guests returning year after year.
Not forgetting that we offer packed lunches which can be taken with you on your day out and when you return in the evening we have a drying room where you can dry all your kit out, ready and dry the next morning for another thrilling adventure.
